Network Slicing

A feature of 5G networks that allows multiple virtual 5G networks to run on one set of physical 5G network infrastructure. Those virtual networks can be individually fine-tuned to offer different performance characteristics for different applications.

For example, one slice might be optimized for lower power use, to allow longer battery life in devices like water meters and dedicated location trackers. Another network slice might be optimized for the lowest possible latency (response time).
